Should car racing be banned since the sake of gas prices and the sake of the environment?

I mean, that’s all car racing is anyway is pointless driving in circles headed nowhere.

Do you think it should be banned?

No, there are like 6 billion cars in the world, a few hundred going away won’t do anything, plus it’s a way for people to make money, it would take away kind of a lot of jobs

That being said, ban that shi* !!!

racing is a billion dollar industry. so i guess you can say money talks

you can argue almost any professional sport and how unnecessary they can be, but people find it entertaining and will pay big bucks.

think about how much pollution comes from any stadium. be it noise, waste, and people driving to and from them. think about how much gas is used to fill a stadium with 50,000 people in it. how many animals were displaced?

but this all gets overlooked because its big money.

i understand what your saying though. ive had this thought before myself. if you really think about it there are many things that are not needed and can be considered bad for the earth, but this gets overlooked for money

Most major series use “exotic” fuels, so they aren’t want you find at the gas pump. This actually became an issue in the 1970s when fuel prices began to spike – and there were shortages, too – and the shows went on…..the bulk of the finger-pointing should surround how the cars and equipment is shipped around the country on haulers. Back in that day – surprisingly – roller derby was a victim, because of fuel costs….but auto racing continued to stay on track. As long as sponsors and promoters can pay the bills, racing will continue unabated.

  3. D B says:

Race cars are always highly tuned so they are very fuel efficient and don’t puke out smoke and fumes like your daddy’s lawn mower or car dose.

  4. nas88car300 # 6 Ragan finally wins a race says:

it has been tried before back in the 70′s when their was a real fuel shortage

to let you know art this time Greed is driving the prices up not a shortage also racing is a higher grade of fuel in which it cost almost twice as much as regular fuel

also more fuel is wasted each day in traffic jams than what all racing combinned does inone year
that is F1 Nascar NHRA and all other racing associations

also Nascar is going green by useing Ethonal

No. And as far as the environment goes, we all know that the effects are millions of times less than oil spills or nuclear disasters, so much that I wish people would turn their focus on helping with a solution than to merely ponder on any negative aspects. (and that includes the medical industry). But since we can’t live forever, we might as well let people have fun with the machines they build, especially since it’s fun and makes people happy. The price we pay for fuel prices and the environment, is very much worth the outcome. “car racing” is the most fun you can have without doing anything wrong, and it’s fun and exciting and makes people happy.

  6. Matt says:

look at the pollution levels of major cities everywhere on the planet

  7. Tee says:

i reckon you should be banned

Should people be put to death for not using common sense…Am no that would take away 95% of the population. Spankey say no!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Buster says:

Did you know that the worlds volcano’s produce more green house gasses in one year than cars have sense there invention? there’s something to think about. and as far as the price of gas. spend your money as you wish.

  10. The C0mplainer says:

NASCAR racing is once a week not everyday. So the cars we drive on the street everyday are the ones doing more damage to the environment. Also NASCAR drives on ovals, triangles, and road courses you dumbass and if you think it’s so easy how about you do it. You probably wouldn’t even know how to start a stock car and you probably don’t even know how to drive manual transmission but anyway I would like to see you constantly going 200 mph for 3 hours.

  11. ChevyPride0310 says:

Ok then ban all regular sports to, the players have to get to each game right? And they just go back and forth on a field or court or go around in a square in a field after hitting a ball with a stick.

By the way, more fuel is used in 1 big city in 1 day than is used in all of NASCAR for the whole season. So maybe there should be a ban on 1 person commuting from 6 AM until 6 PM unless you can prove you’re not going to or from work. the DMV could even have on your record of where you work and if you get pulled they can call that job to find out if you’re going to or from work. Great idea right? Not really.

NASCAR isn’t the problem so don’t be so ignorant about it.

Try searching for the stupid questions before you ask them troll.

Oh, and you should be banned, you are wasting my oxygen.

  14. Skyward says:

Yeah, because that’s definitely the biggest environmental problem in the world by a long shot

  15. Kstabler says:

NO, it should not and won’t be banned….Even in the early 70′s with the gas shortage and long gas lines, they still raced..racing will NEVER be banned..

  16. Sonata says:

Sure along with trolls asking the same old questions over and over.

  17. collet says:

Shut the fuck up you dumb bitch.

  18. Das Gross Rindfleisch says:

Think of how many cars are driving around the world at this very moment, doing god knows what. And people pay for NASCAR tickets, so I’m sure there’s more pointless things people waste gasoline on.

  19. Jay says:

Maybe for the sake of the environment we should stop building Wal Marts and shopping malls. I support the move for all race cars to start using methanol, ethanol, or alcohol. Anything that’s not an oil based fuel. That would end any argument and maybe produce some jobs and keep the money right here in the U.S.

    You cannot be serious girl.

  21. Two Lane. 1969! says:

Banned? No! Why, because you don’t like it or understand it so you call it pointless?

People in St. Louis MO. burn 3,000,000 gallons of gas every day, 365 days a year! Nascar uses 4500 gallons a week for 36 weeks. That’s comes out to 443 gallons a day!
So 3,000,000 a day for just 1 city in the world, and 443 a day for Nascar.

Also, Nascar has the largest tree planting program of any pro sport.
The track in Pocono PA. is 100% solar and also powers 1000 homes next to the track!

  22. Troll Possum says:

Look, the environment would be a lot better off if you quit spewing out so much hot air.

  23. Dennis F says:

Only if you ban every other sport the uses fuel to for transportation for teams around the country.
Then there would only be your local softball league. Which also requires fuel for you to drive to the game.
    Your point is pointless.

  24. C.O. Jones says:

No. The government would lose a lot of tax revenue if it were.

  25. lamomof1 says:

NO. Change the damn channel if you don’t want to watch it.

  26. chris f says:

Are you kidding me nascar is one of the biggest sports around, no it should not be banned

  27. NoHands says:

well china doll, your country is the one that is messing up the enviroment so GTFO

  28. Devin Hawco says:

Although they go about 500 miles every race most race cars use ethonol which is made from corn and next NASCAR high efficiency fuel injections that only put the needed amount of fuel
