High School has full striped footballs. College has half striped footballs, and the NFL has no stripes on the football.

The field goal posts at college and high school are shaped like an “H” while the NFL posts are not shaped like an “H”.

Best answer:

Answer by paul j
The striping is a visual aid. All three levels of football are governed by different associations (no, the NFL is not a corporation, but a free-standing association). On a practical level, it’s much easier to see a football in the air thrown by an NFL QB because of the mass of professional floodlights that make all fields look liked they’re being played on the surface of the sun. Of course HS fields often look like dad is shining a flashlight into a hay field.

Goalposts differ because of economics and updated technology. Most (I would guess virtually all D1 college teams) have the “U on a stick” goalposts like the NFL because it’s safer, newer technology. The old “H” goalpost is cheaper. When I say safety I mean less chance of a receiver or db running into the bottom of the posts when there’s only one, same reason they moved the goalposts to the back of the end zone years ago.

I’ve always wondered. It seems that most of the skill would lie with the horse, since its the one doing the racing. But obviously the jockey must be trained as well. Can someone tell me exactly what role the jockey plays?

Best answer:

Answer by spanky
thats the craziest question ever. well done…. hehe

the jockey isnt just the pilot, but they are a very important part of the team. the horse must be fit and well, but on raceday they must be positioned well and asked to go at the right time – depending on how they like to race. thats the jockeys responsibility. Plus some jockeys ride with heavy hands, and some could settle a horse o a cotton thread, so the little buggers have to be highy skilled. thats whats seperates them

I was curious with all the talk about horse racing, how does a horse owner make money specifically related to racing? Is it through racing fees, -that is to allow the horse to race which in turns attracts bettors etc?

Best answer:

Answer by Horses, birds, and …fish!
Basically, all there is to it is that when a horse finishes 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in a race, it earns money from the race’s purse. About 10% of this goes to the jockey, and the rest is for the owner (who still has to pay the trainer, though).

Best answer:

Answer by QHlover
THe 20s were a time of grandeur and wealth. What is classier and more expensive than horse racing? Owning racehorses was a symbol of high status. Going to the track was a special outing. It was the age of amazing horses, such as Man O War, one of the most well known horses ever.
